Chelsea Merkel

Architectural Designer

Chelsea was inspired to be an architect in her early teens when she took a family trip to Europe and had the chance to explore Italy, France, and England.  She was so amazed by the architecture and culture of Europe that she knew some day she would grow up to design something as beautiful as she was experiencing.  Her early exposure to European architecture inspired her to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies and then a Master of Architecture from Washington State University.

Upon graduating, Chelsea moved back to the Seattle area and joined FREIHEIT Architecture where she is working on various industrial, commercial, and tenant improvement projects.  When asked what she enjoys most about the field of architecture, Chelsea explained that she appreciates the strong sense of teamwork she is able to experience when working on a project.

Outside of the office, Chelsea enjoys exploring Seattle, hiking, and playing volleyball. Her bucket list consists of traveling to various countries such as Egypt, China, and Greece to see some of the world’s earliest architecture.
